(Central Islip, N.Y., Sept. 13, 2026) – The Long Island Ducks today announced that outfielder and five-year MLB veteran Jorge Bonifacio has been named the team’s 2026 Most Valuable Player, presented by Delmonte-Smelson Jewelers. The announcement was made prior to the Ducks regular season home finale on Sunday, September 13.

Bonifacio received the honor after putting together a record-setting campaign in his first season with the Ducks. He finished the season with 108 RBIs, breaking the franchise’s single season record of 103 set by Ray Navarrete in 2008. Additionally, he totaled 30 home runs, which are the most in a single season by a Ducks player, surpassing Carl Everett’s 29 longballs in 2008. The 33-year-old played 112 games for the Flock, compiling a .271 batting average, 95 runs and 112 hits, including 62 for extra bases. Defensively, he did not commit a single error in 86 games played in the outfield. For being chosen as the Team MVP, Bonifacio received a luxury wristwatch, courtesy of Delmonte-Smelson Jewelers.

The Ducks also announced that infielder Alsander Womack has won this season’s P.C. Richard and Son Whistle Player of the Year competition. The first-year Duck scored the most runs in games for which he was designated as the Whistle Player of the Game. Overall, he led the Ducks and ranked ninth in the Atlantic League with a .310 batting average. Additionally, his 133 hits led the Flock and ranked eighth in the league. The 27-year-old totaled 11 homers, 71 RBIs, 74 runs and an .826 OPS in 110 games. By winning the Whistle Player of the Year competition, Womack received a $500 gift card, courtesy of P.C.
