(Central Islip, N.Y., Sept. 13, 2026) – The Long Island Ducks today announced that outfielder and five-year MLB veteran Jorge Bonifacio has been named the team’s 2026 Most Valuable Player, presented by Delmonte-Smelson Jewelers. The announcement was made prior to the Ducks regular season home finale on Sunday, September 13.

Bonifacio received the honor after putting together a record-setting campaign in his first season with the Ducks. Entering Sunday, he has totaled 106 RBIs, breaking the franchise’s single season record of 103 set by Ray Navarrete in 2008. Additionally, he has totaled 29 home runs, which are tied for the most in a single season by a Ducks player (Carl Everett, 2008). The 33-year-old has played 111 games for the Flock, compiling a .267 batting average, 94 runs and 109 hits, including 60 for extra bases. Defensively, he has not committed a single error in 85 games played in the outfield. For being chosen as the Team MVP, Bonifacio received a luxury wristwatch, courtesy of Delmonte-Smelson Jewelers.

The Ducks also announced that infielder Alsander Womack has won this season’s P.C. Richard and Son Whistle Player of the Year competition. The first-year Duck scored the most runs in games for which he was designated as the Whistle Player of the Game. Overall, he leads the Ducks and ranks ninth in the Atlantic League entering Sunday with a .311 batting average. Additionally, his 133 hits lead the Flock and rank eighth in the league. The 27-year-old has totaled 11 homers, 71 RBIs, 74 runs and an .829 OPS in 109 games. By winning the Whistle Player of the Year competition, Womack received a $500 gift card, courtesy of P.C.
