Long Island struck first with two runs in the opening inning off former Duck John Halama. Kraig Binick scored on an error off a bunt single by Bryant Nelson, and Reid Gorecki blooped a RBI single to right-center.

It stayed that way until the seventh when the Ducks loaded the bases on an error, a walk and an infield single. With two outs, Brandon Sing launched a grand slam over the left field wall to extend the lead to six. Wilberto Ortiz added a solo blast to left in the eighth to round out the scoring.

That was more than enough for Randy Keisler (2-1) to get the win, as he tossed seven shutout innings, allowing just seven hits while striking out eight. Halama (3-2) suffered the loss, surrendering six runs (two earned) on nine hits in six and two-thirds innings.

Binick, Nelson and Ortiz each had two hits to lead the Flock.

The Ducks and Barnstormers wrap up their series on Wednesday night. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 5:35. Duck Tales: With a double in the first, Kraig Binick extended his on-base streak to 16 games. That ties Ryan Garko for the longest on-base streak by a Duck this year at 16 games. The longest current on-base streak in the Atlantic League is 21 games, held by Bridgeport’s Prentice Redman…With a single in the first, Ray Navarrete has now reached base safely in his last eight games. The seven-year Ducks has collected hits in seven of those eight games…By pitching seven innings, Randy Keisler tossed his longest outing of the season. The southpaw equaled his longest outing with the Ducks in 2010, which was done in three consecutive games from August 20-30. Keisler also picked up eight strikeouts, the most by a Ducks pitcher in a game this season. The Texas native also struck out eight batters with Long Island on September 4, 2010 against Bridgeport…Brandon Sing’s grand slam was his team-high sixth home run of the year and the Ducks’ third grand slam in 2012. Long Island launched six grand slams during the 2011 season. The first-year Duck also tied Bryant Nelson for the team-lead in RBI with 18…Wilberto Ortiz’ solo homer was his second of the year, both of them off of lefty pitchers. The Ducks have now hit 26 homers this season, good for second in the Atlantic League.
