(Camden, N.J., June 19, 2012) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the Camden Riversharks 3-2 on Tuesday night in the first game of a three-game series at Campbell’s Field.

Ray Navarrete put the Ducks in front with a solo homer to left-center field in the first off Riversharks starter Ricky Brooks. Camden tied the game at one in the second on a sac fly to left by Steve Doetsch off Ducks starter Randy Keisler.

Dan Lyons put the Flock back in front in the fifth with a sac fly to center, which scored James McOwen, and Kraig Binick added an insurance run on a RBI infield single in the seventh. Doetsch connected for a RBI single in the eighth to cut the deficit to one, but that was all the ‘Sharks could muster.

Keisler (4-1) earned the win, tossing seven innings, allowing just two runs on six hits while tying a season-high with eight strikeouts. Brooks (3-1) suffered the loss, yielding three runs on eight hits in seven innings of work. Jon Meloan picked up his 11th save of the year with a perfect ninth, tying him for the league lead.

Binick paced the Ducks with a four-hit performance, while McOwen and Bryant Nelson each added two.

The Ducks and Riversharks continue their three-game set on Wednesday night. Game time is slated for 7:05 p.m. from Campbell’s Field.
