Both sides were held off the scoreboard over the first five and a half innings. Ducks starter Alfredo Simon threw five scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and four walks while striking out four. Patriots starter Jerome Williams pitched four and one-third innings of scoreless baseball before leaving with an injury and gave up four hits and a walk with four strikeouts.

Long Island broke through in the bottom of the sixth inning on a two-run home run to right-center field by Marc Krauss off of Alex Gouin. Somerset pulled even at two in the top of the eighth with an RBI single by Greg Golson and a bases loaded walk to Christian Marrero from Patrick Crider.

The Ducks took the lead back for good in the bottom of the frame. RBI singles by Alex Burg and Giovanny Alfonzo put the Flock back in front 4-2.

Zac Treece (4-1) picked up the win after recording the final out of the eighth inning, leaving the bases loaded. Justin Wright (2-1) took the loss after surrendering two runs on four hits in his one inning of relief. Amalio Diaz earned his second save of the year with a perfect ninth inning.

Krauss, Burg, Alfonzo and Angelo Songco each had two hits to pace the Flock.
