Ducks outfielder earns honor in first season with Flock
(Central Islip, N.Y., Oct. 11, 2017) – The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball today unveiled its 2017 Post-Season All-Star Team to kick off its announcement of year-end honors. Long Island Ducks outfielder Marc Krauss has been selected to this year’s team, as voted by league club managers, executives and media.
“We are very happy to see Marc receive this well-deserved honor,” said Ducks President/GM Michael Pfaff. “He was a consistent contributor to our ballclub and put together a season to be proud of.”
The first-year Duck ranked among the top five in the Atlantic League for several offensive categories in 2017. He ended the season second in runs batted in (84), third in walks (83) and on-base percentage (.400), and fourth in runs scored (75), extra-base hits (53) and slugging percentage (.508). The former Major Leaguer batted .282 over 126 games while clubbing 21 home runs. Defensively, the 30-year-old spent time in both left and right field as well as at first base. He combined to make just three errors over 112 games played in the field and posted a tremendous .995 fielding percentage.
Ducks fans voted Krauss as the Delmonte-Smelson Team Most Valuable Player, and he was presented with his award on Fan Appreciation Day, September 10 against Bridgeport. The Ohio native went on to bat .296 during the playoffs, totaling eight hits, an RBI, two runs scored, four walks and a stolen base in seven games. His efforts helped the Ducks claim their second consecutive Liberty Division championship and fifth in the past seven seasons.
