Both teams traded runs in the first inning. Ryan Harvey’s RBI single off Ducks starter Nick DeBarr and Anthony Contreras’ throwing error which plated Lew Ford accounted for the scoring. A throwing error by Bryant Nelson in the third scored Olmo Rosario to put the ‘Stormers up 2-1, but Bill Hall answered with a two-run home run to left off Lancaster starter Brian Grening in the bottom of the frame to put the Flock up by one.

Long Island tacked on three more in the fourth on a sacrifice fly to left by Ford and a two-run double to left-center by Nelson. However, a run in the fifth and three in the sixth for Lancaster tied the score at six. Two more runs in the eighth inning on RBI singles by Jerry Owens and Joe Thurston gave the Barnstormers the lead for good.

Neither starter factored into the decision. DeBarr allowed five runs (three earned) on eight hits in five and one-third innings, and Grening yielded six runs (five earned) on nine hits and four walks in six innings. Brodie Downs (1-2) earned the win, tossing two scoreless innings of relief, and Josh Lansford (1-3) took the loss, surrendering two runs on three hits in one inning. Yoslan Herrera earned his eighth save with a scoreless ninth.

Nelson led the Ducks with three hits while Ford, Adam Bailey and Kraig Binick each had two.
