(Lancaster, Pa., Sept. 14, 2023) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Lancaster Barnstormers 3-1 on Thursday night in the final game of a three-game series at Clipper Magazine Stadium and the Ducks final road game of the regular season.

A bases loaded walk by Melvin Mercedes in the second inning gave the Barnstormers a 1-0 lead. Sam Travis answered with a two-out RBI single to right field in the third, tying the game at one. It stayed that way until the sixth when Lancaster went back in front on Wilson Garcia’s RBI double to left and Joseph Carpenter’s RBI single to left.

Barnstormers starter Brady Tedesco (1-1) earned the win, tossing seven innings of one-run ball, allowing five hits and two walks while striking out three. Ducks starter Ian Clarkin (3-5) suffered the loss, conceding just two runs on two hits and four walks over five innings with seven strikeouts. Nick Duron collected his second save with a scoreless ninth, walking one and striking out two.

Travis led the Ducks offensively with three hits and an RBI.

Long Island returns home on Friday night for their final series of the regular season, a three-game set against the High Point Rockers. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m., with the Fairfield Properties Ballpark gates opening at 5:35 (5:20 for full season ticket holders). It’s Prostate Cancer Awareness Night at the Ballpark, and the first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive Ducks Seat Cushions, courtesy of Good Samaritan University Hospital. Right-hander Joe Iorio (5-8, 6.41) gets the start for the Ducks against Rockers righty Jheyson Manzueta (6-2, 4.66).
