Long Island took an early 2-0 lead in the second inning on Fehlandt Lentini’s two-out, two-run triple to left-center field off Revolution starter Micah Owings. An RBI single to center by Ruben Gotay in the third, and a run-scoring fielder’s choice off the bat of Lentini in the sixth doubled the lead to 4-0.

York got on the scoreboard in the seventh when Andres Perez lifted a solo home run to left off Ducks starter Matt Larkins. Michael Burgess and Michael Rockett would follow with back-to-back singles, bringing the tying run to the plate. However, Bryan Pounds grounded into a 6-4-3 double play to end the threat and York’s comeback hopes.

Larkins (1-0) was dominant to earn the win, pitching seven innings of one-run ball, allowing seven hits and a walk while striking out four. Owings (7-6) took the loss, giving up four runs on 10 hits with two strikeouts in six innings of work. Todd Coffey collected his 26th save of the season with a scoreless ninth.

Gotay and Tyler Colvin each had three hits to pace the Flock, while Lentini drove in three runs.
