The Ducks opened the scoring on Bill Hall’s RBI single to left in the first inning off Bluefish starter Kelvin Villa. A Bryant Nelson RBI single in the third stretched the lead to two. Daniel Mayora’s run-scoring single to center in the fifth inning off Ducks starter Matt Way put the Bluefish on the board.
Bridgeport took their first lead of the game in the seventh when Mayora hit a two-run home run to left. Yusuf Carter’s grand slam to left-center in the eighth put the game out of reach.
Way did not factor into the decision, allowing a run on two hits and three walks with seven strikeouts in five innings. Villa (2-2) collected the win, tossing seven innings, allowing two runs on 12 hits while striking out seven. Bob Zimmermann (0-1) took the loss, surrendering two runs (one earned) on one hit and one walk in two innings of relief.
Hall led the Ducks with three hits while Nelson, Joash Brodin and P.J. Phillips each added two.
