Long Island took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Jordan Hinshaw singled off Skeeters starter Sean Gleason and scored on a double play ball following a walk and a single. The Ducks doubled the lead in the third when Hinshaw singled and scored from first on Delta Cleary Jr.’s single along with a fielding error.

Sugar Land tied the game at two in the fifth on a two-run home run to center field by Bryan Pounds off Ducks starter Jake Dunning. A four-run seventh then gave the Skeeters a 6-2 advantage. RBI singles by Joe Benson and Josh Prince, along with a sacrifice fly by Caleb Ramsey and a run-scoring wild pitch, did the damage.

The Ducks attempted a comeback in the ninth, as Dan Lyons’ RBI single closed the gap to 6-3. However, Long Island was unable to pull even.

Gleason (4-7) picked up the win, tossing six innings and allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits and four walks while striking out five. Dunning (2-1) suffered the loss, yielding six runs (four earned) on nine hits and a walk over six innings with four strikeouts.

Hinshaw and Lyons led the Flock with two hits apiece. Zac Treece pitched two and two-thirds scoreless innings for the Ducks, striking out four.
