Ducks outfielder selected to End-of-Season All-Star Team and All-Defensive Team

(Central Islip, N.Y., Oct. 13, 2016) – The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball today unveiled its 2016 Post-Season All-Star Team and the Red, White and Blue All-Defensive Team. Long Island Ducks outfielder Fehlandt Lentini has been selected to both squads, as voted by league club managers, executives and media.

“Fehlandt put together a tremendous season, both at the plate and in the field,” said Ducks President/GM Michael Pfaff. “He was one of the top players in the Atlantic League this year, and we are very proud of all that he accomplished.”

The third-year Duck compiled one of the best seasons of his 16-year professional career in 2016. He led all Atlantic League players in hits (179), runs (108), doubles (42) and at bats (571) while also becoming one of only three players in league history to appear in all 140 games during the regular season (Lew Ford, Ducks, 2014 and Jovan Rosa, New Britain, 2016). In addition, Lentini ranked second in the league in total bases (260), extra-base hits (57), stolen bases (51) and stolen base percentage (.911), third in triples (6) and fifth in batting average (.313) and runs batted in (75).

Defensively, the 39-year-old played 133 games in the outfield and committed just two errors, good for a .990 fielding percentage. He also showcased a strong arm, contributing seven assists from the outfield. The California native earned his second Atlantic League All-Star Game selection and went on to bat .281 with two doubles, two RBI, three runs and two stolen bases in the postseason for Long Island. Lentini was previously a Second Team Post-Season All-Star with the Ducks in 2014.

“It feels good to be recognized for all the effort I put in this year trying to help my team win,” said Lentini. “I attribute my success to my mom and support group, who allow me to work on my craft in the offseason. I also attribute it to my young students who I give lessons to. Teaching has been a big part in my learning and understanding of what I need to do to have success consistently.”
