Ducks wrap up road trip this Sunday afternoon
 

(Lancaster, Pa., June 17, 2017) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Lancaster Barnstormers in the middle game of a three-game series at Clipper Magazine Stadium on Saturday night.

The Barnstormers (30-25) jumped on the board early when Blake Gailen hit a one-out home run in the bottom of the first off Dennis O’Grady. Later in the frame, K.C. Hobson added a two-run homer and Garrett Weber provided an RBI double to push the Lancaster lead to 4-0. Hobson would crack two home runs on the game for the Barnstormers.

The Ducks (27-28) loaded the bases in the third and eighth innings, but both times were not able to scratch across a run. Lancaster tacked on a run in the fifth, and four more in the sixth.

O’Grady (2-3) got the loss for the Ducks, allowing nine runs on 12 hits in five-plus innings of work. Rommie Lewis (3-5) got the win for the Barnstormers, tossing six scoreless innings, recording three strikeouts.

Elmer Reyes and Lew Ford led the Long Island offense with two hits each.

The Ducks finish their three-game series with the Lancaster Barnstormers on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. from Clipper Magazine Stadium. Long Island returns home on Monday, June 19 to open up a four-game set with the Patriots. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 5:35 (5:20 for full season ticket holders). It’s Health Night at the ballpark, presented by Northwell Health, and the first 3,000 fans in attendance will receive Commemorative Purple T-Shirts.
