Ducks kept off scoreboard by Nate Reed, Barnstormers bullpen

(Lancaster, Pa., Aug. 10, 2019) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Lancaster Barnstormers 4-0 on Saturday night in the middle game of a three-game series at Clipper Magazine Stadium.

Lancaster took a 2-0 lead in the second inning on a two-run home run to right field by Gift Ngoepe off Ducks starter Joe Iorio. A two-out RBI double down the left field line by Destin Hood in the third increased the advantage to three. Anderson De La Rosa singled in the fourth and later scored on a throwing error, upping the lead to 4-0.

That was more than enough for Barnstormers starter Nate Reed (2-2) to earn the win. The lefty tossed six and two-thirds scoreless innings, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out seven. Iorio (5-2) suffered the loss, surrendering four runs (three earned) on seven hits and a walk over five innings with six strikeouts. Ismael Cabrera threw two perfect innings of relief, striking out three, in his Ducks debut, and Clint Freeman struck out the side in a scoreless eighth.
