Both teams exchanged zeroes until the bottom of the fifth with a two-out, two-run single to left field by Elmer Reyes gave the Ducks a 2-0 lead. A sacrifice fly to center by Sean Halton in the sixth inning closed the gap to 2-1.

Long Island got the two-run lead back in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single to center from Cody Puckett. However, a two-out, two-run home run to left by Anderson De La Rosa in the seventh tied the ballgame at three.

The Ducks regained the lead in the bottom of the eighth on a sac fly to left off the bat of Dan Lyons. The Barnstormers were able to pull even once again though in the top of the ninth on Trayvon Robinson’s RBI single to left-center.

In the 10th, Jordan Pacheco singled to left field with one out for his first hit as a Duck. Two batters later, on a 3-2 pitch with two outs, Lyons drove a double to left-center to bring home Pacheco with the winning run.

Neither starter factored into the decision. John Brownell tossed seven innings of three-run ball for the Ducks, yielding eight hits and two walks while striking out three. Nate Reed lasted six innings for the Barnstormers, giving up three runs on nine hits with five strikeouts. Jim Fuller (1-0) picked up the win after pitching a scoreless 10th inning, striking out one. Cody Hall (1-3) suffered the loss, surrendering a run on two hits while striking out five in one and two-thirds innings.

Lyons and Giovanny Alfonzo each had three hits to pace the Flock offensively.
