Alex Burg got the scoring started for the Ducks in the second inning with a two-run home run down the left field line off Patriots starter David Kubiak. One inning later, Angelo Songco smacked a three-run home run down the right field line to increase the lead to 5-0.
It stayed that way until the bottom of the eighth when the Ducks plated three more runs. RBI singles to center by Burg and Dan Lyons, along with a throwing error by Justin Pacchioli that scored Marc Krauss, did the damage.
Tim Melville (2-2) was brilliant to earn the win, pitching six shutout innings and allowing just three hits and two walks while striking out eight batters. Kubiak (2-3) suffered the loss, surrendering five runs on five hits and two walks in six innings with five strikeouts.
Burg and Lyons led the Flock with three hits apiece, while Burg and Songco each drove in three runs.
Following a day off, the Ducks hit the road on Tuesday to being the 2017 Ferry Cup Series, as they open a four-game series with the cross-sound rival Bridgeport Bluefish.
