Long Island leaves 13 on base in series-opening defeat
(New Britain, Conn., Aug. 15, 2016) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the New Britain Bees 4-2 on Monday night in the opener of a four-game series at New Britain Stadium.

New Britain opened the scoring with four runs in the second inning against ducks starter Mike Jackson Jr. Following an error, Michael Crouse hit a three-run home run to left field, and James Skelton connected for an RBI double.
Long Island closed to within two in the seventh inning against Bees reliever Brandon Fry. Two-out RBI singles by Delta Cleary Jr. and Dan Lyons cut the deficit to 4-2. The Ducks put the tying runs on base in the seventh and eighth, and brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth, but they could not pull even.
Daniel Sattler (1-1) earned the win, tossing six shutout innings, allowing three hits and four walks while striking out six. Jackson Jr. (0-1) suffered the loss, yielding four runs (two earned) on six hits and a walk with three strikeouts in six innings. Shawn Gilblair collected his ninth save by recording the final four outs, giving up two hits.
Lyons and Mike Blanke each had two hits to pace the Flock.
The Ducks and Bees continue their four-game set on Tuesday night. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m. at New Britain Stadium. Fans can follow all the action live on the Ducks’ official YouTube channel.
