Southpaw tosses fourth consecutive quality start
(Camden, N.J., July 23, 2013) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the Camden Riversharks 7-3 on Tuesday night in the middle game of a three-game series at Campbell’s Field.

Long Island exploded for three runs in the first inning against Riversharks starter A.J. Battisto. A run-scoring error, a sac fly to right by Bill Hall and a RBI single to center by Adam Bailey did the damage. Camden cut the lead to two in the bottom of the second on a RBI single to left by Burt Reynolds off Ducks starter Bill Murphy.
The teams traded runs in the fourth inning, with a run-scoring error plating Hall and a RBI single to left by Juan Martinez making the score 4-2. A run in the sixth and two more in the eighth for Long Island increased the lead to five. Bailey scored on a double play and delivered a RBI triple to right while Ray Navarrete lifted a sac fly to left to highlight the scoring.
Murphy (2-10) pitched well for the win, tossing six innings, allowing just two runs on six hits while striking out four. Battisto (3-1) suffered the loss, yielding seven run (five earned) on 13 hits with five strikeouts in seven and one-third innings.
Bailey led Long Island with three hits, two RBI and two runs scored while Hall, Bryant Nelson and Ralph Henriquez each added two hits.
The Ducks and Riversharks wrap up their three-game set on Wednesday morning. First pitch from Campbell’s Field is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Right-hander Bob Zimmermann gets the start for the Ducks against Camden righty Scott Gorgen. Long Island returns home on Monday, July 29 to take on the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. Game time is slated for 7:05 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 6:05.
