Neither side pushed across a run until the sixth inning when the Patriots pushed across three two-out runs against Ducks starter Bruce Kern. A RBI single to left field by Matt Fields and a two-run double to right-center by David Vidal did the damage. A RBI single to right by Robert Andino in the seventh extended the lead to 4-0.

That was more than enough for Patriots starter Will Oliver (1-0), who tossed a complete game shutout to earn the win. He allowed just three hits and one walk while striking out two batters. Kern (0-1) suffered the loss, giving up three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out seven.

Delta Cleary, Jr. led the Flock with two hits at the plate.
