Team seeking host families for the 2016 season
(Central Islip, N.Y., Jan. 28, 2016) – The three-time Atlantic League champion Long Island Ducks are currently seeking members of the Long Island community that are interested in becoming host families for Ducks players during the 2016 baseball season.
If you’re looking for a way to get involved with Long Island’s hometown team, hosting a Duck is the perfect opportunity. The experience will provide families with the chance to get to know a professional athlete and develop an everlasting bond. In each of the Ducks’ 16 seasons on Long Island, both the players and their host families have undoubtedly agreed that it was a positive and beneficial relationship. Host families will also receive exclusive opportunities such as:
-Lunch with the players before the 2016 season
-On-field recognition before a game and the chance to take the field with your player
-The opportunity to watch a game from a luxury suite (20 tickets available)
“I have always had positive experiences living with host families,” said Ducks pitcher Nick Struck, who lived with Dottie Stein of Islip Terrance during the 2015 season. “You usually become close with the person or family, and I still stay in contact with all of my former host families.”
Becoming a host family with the Ducks is very easy! The only things required for you to provide are:
-A private bedroom for the player
-The use of a bathroom, washer/dryer and kitchen
Any other amenities that you are willing and able to offer will be greatly appreciated by your player and the team. The Ducks are also seeking houses and apartments available to rent for players during the 2016 season (April-September). Landlords with available properties, along with families who would like to take part in the Host a Duck program, should contact Gerry Anderson by calling (631) 940-3825 ext. 114 or send an e-mail to [email protected].
The Long Island Ducks are members of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and play their home games at Bethpage Ballpark. For further information, call (631) 940-DUCK or visit www.liducks.com.
