Ducks offense stifled by Nik Turley

(Bridgewater, N.J., Sept. 22, 2016) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Somerset Patriots 10-0 on Thursday night in Game Two of the Liberty Division Championship Series at TD Bank Ballpark. Somerset now leads the best-of-five series two games to none.

Somerset was led offensively by Eric Farris, who had three hits and two RBI, including an RBI single in the Patriots’ five-run second inning. Vinny Zarrillo added two hits, three RBI and two runs, highlighted by a two-run double a four-run fifth for Somerset. Aharon Eggleston and Bryan LaHair also contributed with two hits and two RBI apiece.

Fehlandt Lentini led the Flock offensively with two hits, including his second double of the series. He has now picked up back-to-back two-hit games to begin the series. Dan Lyons and Lew Ford also collected hits for Long Island. On the mound, Danny Burawa pitched a pair of scoreless innings in relief and struck out three. James Lomangino also tossed a scoreless inning.

Patriots starter Nik Turley (1-0) earned the win with seven shutout innings, yielding just three hits and a walk while striking out 14. Larkins (0-1) took the loss, surrendering five runs on seven hits in two innings of work.

The Ducks and Patriots now head to Long Island for Game Three of the Liberty Division Championship Series on Friday night. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 5:35 (5:20 for full season ticket holders). The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive Playoff Rally Towels, courtesy of News 12 Long Island.
