Both sides exchanged zeroes until the fourth when three runs off Ducks starter Fernando Hernandez put the Patriots on top. A sac fly by Ty Wright, a run-scoring error off the bat of Edwin Maysonet and a RBI single by Nate Spears did the damage.

Somerset doubled the lead to six with three in the seventh on a RBI double by Robbie Widlansky and a two-run single by Eddy Martinez-Esteve. RBI singles by Corey Smith and Maysonet in the eighth and ninth, respectively, rounded out the scoring.

Gary Moran (2-2) earned the win, tossing seven scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and two walks while striking out three. Hernandez (2-2) suffered the loss, surrendering three runs (one earned) on six hits and four walks with five strikeouts in six innings.
