Southpaw turns in second consecutive quality start for Long Island

(Central Islip, N.Y., May 8, 2017) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the York Revolution 4-0 on Monday night in the opener of a three-game series at Bethpage Ballpark.

Ducks starter Rafael Perez retired the first 15 batters that he faced, striking out six over the first five innings. However, the Revolution scored twice in the sixth inning on an RBI double by Angel Franco and a run-scoring single from Jose Constanza.

A solo home run to left field by Isaias Tejeda in the seventh increased York’s lead to 3-0. Bryan Pounds’ RBI single in the ninth rounded out the scoring.

Revolution starter Frank Gailey (3-1) earned the win with six scoreless innings, allowing just four hits and two walks while striking out seven. Perez (1-1) was saddled with the loss, giving up three runs on four hits in seven innings with seven strikeouts as well.

The Ducks and Revolution continue their three-game set on Tuesday night. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 5:35 (5:20 for full-season ticket holders).
