Sandberg begins his first season with the Ducks and third in professional baseball. The right-hander spent the past two seasons with the Quebec Capitales of the Frontier League. He appeared in 40 games, 30 as a starter, posting a 9-10 record and a 3.25 ERA. in 171.2 innings of work, he struck out 169 batters while conceding 142 hits and 57 walks. Sandberg also pitched with the Trenton Thunder in the MLB Draft League in 2022, going 0-1 with a 6.60 ERA in 13 games to go along with 21 strikeouts in 15.0 innings pitched. 

The 26-year-old Island Park, N.Y. native pitched at the collegiate level for two seasons at Florida Atlantic University (2019-20) and two seasons at Wilmington University (DE), combining to go 12-6 with a 3.95 ERA in 31 games and 25 game starts while tallying three complete games and striking out 150 over the course of 139.0 innings pitched.
