Long Island’s favorite mascot reigns supreme in Atlantic League
(Central Islip, N.Y., Oct. 15, 2015) – The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball today announced its final round of End-of-Season Awards for 2015. Long Island Ducks mascot, QuackerJack, has been chosen as the Mascot of the Year in the inaugural installment of the award. Selections were based on voting from club managers and executives.
“QuackerJack doesn’t speak, but when we told him about this award, he got quite emotional,” said Ducks President/GM Michael Pfaff. “There can be but one first…and for QuackerJack to be the first-ever winner of this prestigious award is, in a word, Spec-Quackular.”
QJ continues to be the face of the Long Island Ducks organization. His exceptional contributions to team marketing and community efforts with fans earned him this honor. The lovable mascot helped get the crowd excited and cheering on Long Island’s hometown team at Bethpage Ballpark throughout the 2015 season. As a result, the Ducks posted an Atlantic League-best 48-22 record at home and the second-most wins in franchise history overall (80).
In addition, QuackerJack maintained his devotion to the community by visiting hundreds of locations around Long Island. Among the appearances he made included spending the day with kids at schools, visiting children in local hospitals, taking part in a variety of charity events and so much more. The five-time “Best Long Island Mascot” in the Long Island Press’ “Best of Long Island” Awards has embodied the charismatic spirit of the Ducks and Atlantic League throughout the year.
