(Central Islip, N.Y., May 27, 2012) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the Bridgeport Bluefish 8-3 on Sunday afternoon in the final game of a four-game series at Bethpage Ballpark.

The Ducks and Bluefish traded zeroes until the top of the fourth when Bridgeport’s Brock Peterson hit a two-run homer to left field off Ducks starter Randy Keisler. Long Island would answer back in the bottom of the frame with three runs off Bluefish starter Isaac Hess. A two-run triple by Shawn Williams and a RBI sac fly by Reid Gorecki put the Ducks up 3-2.

Bridgeport tied it up in the fifth when Peterson lined a single down the left field line, scoring former Duck Kennard Jones. However, in the bottom of the sixth, the Flock would add four more runs to put the game out of reach. Gorecki and Bryant Nelson each had RBI singles, Josh Johnson collected a two-run double and Brandon Sing rounded out the scoring with a RBI sac fly, giving Long Island a 7-3 lead.

Keisler (3-1) earned the win, tossing six innings, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out six. Hess (2-2) suffered the loss, giving up six runs on seven hits and four walks in five innings of work.

Kraig Binick paced the Ducks with three hits, while Williams added two. Gorecki and Williams added two RBI apiece.

Long Island hits the road to face the Camden Riversharks on Monday night in the opener of a four-game series in Camden. Game time is slated for 7:05 p.m. at Campbell’s Field. The Ducks return home on Friday, June 1 to begin a seven-game homestand, as they host the York Revolution in the opener of a four-game series. Duck Tales: With a double, Ray Navarrete has now reached base safely in his last 14 games. The seven-year Duck has driven in 15 runs during that span and has collected hits in 12 of those 14 games…With the win, the Ducks continued to hold the best home record in the Atlantic League at 13-3. Dating back to last season, when the Ducks won a franchise record 51 games, the Flock has now gone 64-23 at Bethpage Ballpark in the regular season…Shawn Williams picked up his first triple of the season and had two extra-base hits overall. The Ducks have seven triples as a team this year, and collected 30 triples in 2011. Williams also drove in two runs, increasing his RBI total to 12….Reid Gorecki drove in two runs in the victory, upping his season total to five.
