(York, Penn., Aug. 31, 2012) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the York Revolution 22-6 on Friday night in the first game of a three-game series at Sovereign Bank Stadium.

York jumped out to an early 4-0 lead with two runs in the first and two in the second against Ducks starter Jino Gonzalez. A two-run error by Dan Lyons and RBI sacrifice flies from Scott Grimes and Jeff Fiorentino did the damage. An eight-run inning in the third, highlighted by home runs from Chris Nowak, Salomon Manriquez and Grimes, ballooned the lead to 12.

Long Island answered back with five runs in the fourth to cut the deficit to 12-5. A two-run single from Matt Esquivel and a three-run homer by Lee Cruz put the Ducks on the scoreboard. However, York put the game away with two in the fifth and seven in the sixth.

Wade Korpi (4-0) took the win after pitching two and two-thirds scoreless innings of relief, striking out one. Gonzalez (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing seven runs (five earned) on six hits and three walks in two and one-third innings.
