Teams combine for 22 runs, 30 hits in series opener

(York, Penn., May 3, 2013) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the York Revolution 13-9 on Friday night in the first game of a three-game series at Sovereign Bank Stadium.

GAME AUDIO: Highlights from the offensive showcase

Ray Navarrete put the Ducks in front with a solo homer in the first off Revolution starter Nick Green. However, York answered with single runs in the second and third on a run-scoring wild pitch thrown by Ducks starter Nick DeBarr and a solo homer to right by Brian Burgamy. Ben Broussard responded with a solo homer in the fourth to tie the game at two.

York pushed across two more in the fourth on solo homers from Johan Limonta and Jeff Fiorentino to take a 4-2 lead. After Long Island cut the lead to one in the sixth, the Revs put up a four-spot in their half of the inning, all with two outs, to take an 8-3 advantage. However, the Ducks rallied right back for four of their own in the seventh, highlighted by Navarrete’s RBI double, Broussard’s two-run single and Bailey’s RBI single to make it a one-run game once again.

The Revolution responded with two outs once again in the seventh though, as Jason Repko’s three-run double highlighted a four-run frame to increase the lead to 12-7. Ralph Henriquez added a two-run homer in the ninth for the Ducks, but it wasn’t enough.

Green (1-0) earned the win, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits while striking out six in six innings. DeBarr (0-2) took the loss, yielding seven runs (six earned) on eight hits with 10 strikeouts in five and two-thirds innings.

Navarrete led the Ducks with three hits in the game, adding two RBI and three runs scored.
