Long Island and York combine for 19 runs and 33 hits while settling for series split

(Central Islip, N.Y., June 28, 2018) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the York Revolution 12-7 on Thursday night in the finale of a four-game series at Bethpage Ballpark.

The Revolution took an early 3-0 lead against Ducks starter Jake Fisher on RBI doubles by Michael Burgess and Ryan Dent along with an RBI single by Jose Cuevas in the first inning. The Ducks closed to within 3-2 on a wild pitch by Robert Carson in the first inning and Travis Snider’s RBI single in the third.

York widened their lead to 9-2 with a five-run fifth inning and another run in the sixth. Two more RBI singles by Cuevas and a three-run home run to left field by Ryan Dent highlighted the scoring.

Long Island closed back to within two with a five-run inning of their own in the sixth. Run-scoring groundouts from Dan Lyons and Jordany Valdespin, an RBI single by Lew Ford and a two-run homer to right-center by Snider made it a 9-7 ballgame. However, the Revolution put the game out of reach with three runs over the final three innings.

Carson (5-2) picked up the win, tossing five innings, allowing two runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out five. Fisher (3-3) suffered the loss, surrendering eight runs on 13 hits and a walk over four and two-thirds innings with four strikeouts.

Ford led the Flock with three hits, an RBI and two runs scored. Snider added two hits, three RBIs and a run, while Valdespin added three hits, one RBI and one run.
