(York, Penn., Aug. 22, 2012) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the York Revolution 4-3 on Wednesday night in the third game of a four-game series at Sovereign Bank Stadium.

Ramon Castro’s solo home run in the first off Ducks starter Chris Hayes gave the Revolution a 1-0 lead. Andres Perez hit a solo homer over the Arch Nemesis in the third inning to stretch the lead to two.

It stayed that way until the seventh when the Ducks tied the game at two on a RBI double to left by Mitch Canham and a run-scoring sacrifice bunt by Kraig Binick. Long Island would take their first lead of the night in the ninth, as Binick’s two-out RBI single to center scored Canham from second.

However, Scott Grimes hit a two-run walk-off single after Jon Hunton left with an injury in the bottom of the ninth to give York the 4-3 win.

Neither starter factored into the decision. Hayes went six innings, allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out two, and Corey Thurman pitched six scoreless frames, yielding four hits and two walks with one strikeout. Ricardo Gomez (4-0) got the win despite allowing a run on two hits in the ninth inning, and Connor Graham (2-2) suffered the loss, yielding the winning run on one hit and two walks.

The Ducks and Revs wrap up their series on Thursday night. Game time is slated for 6:30 p.m. from Sovereign Bank Stadium.
