(York, Pa., June 7, 2018) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the York Revolution 9-2 on Thursday night in the opener of a four-game series at PeoplesBank Park.

The Revolution opened the scoring with three runs in the first inning off Ducks starter Andrew Barbosa. An RBI double by Welington Dotel, a run-scoring groundout from Zach Wilson and a sacrifice fly off the bat of Rubi Silva did the damage. Jared Mitchell’s sac fly in the second extended the lead to 4-0.

Long Island got on the scoreboard in the fourth when Alec Sole and Jordany Valdespin collected back-to-back two-out hits and Sole scored on a passed ball. However, two runs in the fourth and another in the fifth pushed York’s lead to 7-1. An RBI single by Wilson and a two-out solo homer by Tyler Clark highlighted the scoring.

David Washington came home following a two-out triple and a wild pitch by Revolution starter Mitch Atkins in the top of the sixth. York responded though in the bottom of the inning when two runs scored on an RBI fielder’s choice and an error.

Atkins (1-3) earned the win, pitching five and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out six. Barbosa (1-1) took the loss, giving up three runs on two hits and a walk in one inning.

Washington led the Flock offensively with three hits, while Sole added two.
