Bryan Pounds leads the way for Camden with five RBI

(Camden, N.J., June 20, 2014) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Camden Riversharks 6-5 on Friday night in the final game of a four-game series at Campbell’s Field.

GAME AUDIO: Highlights from the road trip finale

Camden scored two in the first inning on a two-run triple to right by Bryan Pounds off Ducks starter Casey Barnes. Long Island responded with a run in the second on a RBI double to right by Joash Brodin off Riversharks starter Jake Hale. The Ducks took their first lead in the third on a solo homer to right by Jan Vazquez and a sac fly to right by Lew Ford.

It remained 3-2 until the fifth when Bryant Nelson’s two-out RBI single to right tied the game at three. The Ducks answered right back in the sixth with a RBI single by Randy Ruiz and a sac fly by Brendan Harris to take a two-run lead. However, a three-run double by Pounds in the bottom of the seventh put the Riversharks up for good.

Neither starter factored into the decision. Barnes allowed three runs on six hits while striking out two in five innings. Hale surrendered five runs on seven hits in five and one-third innings. Dan Blewett (1-1) earned the win, tossing one and two-thirds innings of scoreless baseball with three strikeouts. Josh Lansford (3-2) suffered the loss, surrendering three runs on two hits and a walk in one and one-third innings. Matt Gorgen earned his 12th save with a scoreless ninth.
