Lancaster’s offense explodes in 11-3 victory
(Lancaster, Penn., May 27, 2014) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Lancaster Barnstormers 11-3 on Tuesday night in the first game of a three-game series at Clipper Magazine Stadium.

Lancaster struck first on a RBI single to center by Cole Garner in the first off Ducks starter Jared Lansford. A two-out, two-run single to left by Yusuke Kajimoto in the second increased the Barnstormers lead to 3-0. The Ducks got on the scoreboard in the third on Cody Puckett’s sacrifice fly to right off Lancaster starter Clayton Tanner.
Austin Gallagher restored the lead to three with a solo homer in the fourth, but Puckett responded with a RBI double to left in the fifth, cutting the deficit back to two. It stayed that way until the seventh when the Barnstormers compiled a seven-spot to put the game out of reach. A three-run homer by Lance Zawadzki and a solo homer by Blake Gailen highlighted the frame.
Tanner (2-2) picked up the win, tossing five innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks with two strikeouts. Lansford (1-1) suffered the loss, surrendering six runs (five earned) on six hits while striking out seven in six and one-third innings.
The Ducks and Barnstormers continue their three-game set on Wednesday night. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m. at Clipper Magazine Stadium. Right-hander John Brownell takes the mound for the Ducks against Barnstormers righty Brian Grening.
