(Camden, N.J., Aug. 21, 2013) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Camden Riversharks 8-4 on Wednesday night in the final game of a three-game series at Campbell’s Field.

GAME AUDIO: Ryan Strieby’s game-tying two-run homer

Long Island opened the scoring in the first inning when Josh Barfield doubled and came around to score on Bill Hall’s sacrifice fly to right off Riversharks starter Andrew Johnston. Ralph Henriquez doubled the lead in the second with a sac fly of his own to left. Camden tied the game in the bottom of the frame on a RBI groundout from Dionys Cesar and a RBI triple to center by Burt Reynolds off Ducks starter Chris McCoy.

A pair of unearned runs in the third for the Riversharks gave the hosts a 4-2 lead. Two-out RBI singles by Raul Padron and Cesar did the damage. It stayed that way until the sixth when Ryan Strieby launched a two-out, game-tying homer to left, the 100th homer of the season for Long Island.

However, a four-run bottom of the inning gave Camden the lead for good. A two-run single by Yasser Gomez, a RBI double by Wilson Valdez and a RBI single by Delwyn Young highlighted the scoring.

Johnston did not factor into the decision, tossing four innings, allowing two runs on three hits while striking out five. Armando Gabino (3-8) earned the win despite allowing two runs on three hits in three innings. McCoy (0-1) suffered the loss, surrendering six run (four earned) on nine hits in five and one-third innings.

Barfield led the Ducks with three hits while Strieby added two.

Long Island begins a season-long eight-game homestand on Thursday night when they battle the Somerset Patriots in the opener of a four-game series. Game time is slated for 7:05 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at a special time of 5:10 for a charity softball game between the Nassau County PBA and Nassau County Sheriffs Department. The first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive Buddy Harrelson Bobbleheads, courtesy of Dantona Industries. Southpaw Bill Murphy gets the start for the Ducks against Patriots right-hander Derell McCall.
