(Central Islip, N.Y., June 29, 2012) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the Sugar Land Skeeters 7-4 on Friday night in the second game of a four-game series at Bethpage Ballpark.

The Ducks jumped out to an early 3-0 lead against Sugar Land starter Jason Lane on a RBI single by Shawn Williams in the second along with a RBI single by Reid Gorecki and a run-scoring wild pitch in the third. The Skeeters would answer back to tie it against Ducks starter Mike Loree with a solo homer by Josh Pressley in the fourth and two more runs in the fifth on a RBI double by Matt Hagen and a run-scoring single from Miguel Negron.

Long Island regained the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth on a mammoth two-run home run to left-center field by Brandon Sing. Williams would add some insurance in the bottom of the eighth with a two-run homer of his own to right field, putting the game out of reach.

Loree (4-3) would pick up the victory, tossing seven innings, allowing just three runs on five hits while striking out four batters. Lane (1-2) suffered the loss, allowing five runs (four earned) on six hits with five strikeouts in six innings of work.

Sing and Williams paced the Flock with two hits apiece. Sing drove in two runs and scored twice, while Williams collected three RBI.

The Ducks continue their series with the Skeeters on Saturday night. Game time is slated for 7:05 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 6:05. The first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive Reusable Shopping Bags, courtesy of EverBank. Ducks staff members will also be handing out coupons for $10 off a purchase of $50 or more at Dick’s Sporting Goods to fans.
