Both teams exchanged zeroes through the first five innings before Sugar Land opened the scoring with a Brian Burgamy RBI single off Ducks starter Bob Zimmermann in the sixth. The Ducks answered right back with a Josh Barfield sacrifice fly to left field in the bottom half of the inning off Skeeters starter Michael Nix.

Kraig Binick put the Ducks on top with a RBI single in the seventh, but Sugar Land took the lead for good in the eighth. A Jeff Dominguez RBI single to center and a Josh Pressley two-run double to right field did the damage.

Nix (8-2) grabbed the win, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits in seven innings. Zimmerman did not factor in the decision. He gave up two runs (one earned) on three hits with eight strikeouts in seven and one-third innings. Erick Threets (0-2) took the loss, allowing two unearned runs on two hits in two-thirds of an inning. Gary Majewski pitched a scoreless ninth to pick up his 21st save.

The Ducks open a three-game set against the Lancaster Barnstormers on Tuesday night. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 5:35.
