Former Duck Gorecki twice ties the game
(Sugar Land, Texas, Aug. 11, 2013) – The Long Island Ducks fell to the Sugar Land Skeeters 6-5 on Saturday night in 11 innings in the third game of a six-game series at Constellation Field.

Bryant Nelson drove in the first run of the game with a double in the first inning off Sugar Land starter Cesar Carrillo. The Ducks doubled their lead in the fourth on Ralph Henriquez’s RBI single to right. The Skeeters scratched two runs off Long Island starter Matt Way in the fourth on a wild pitch and a Ryan Langerhans RBI double.
The Ducks retook the lead in the sixth inning, with Adam Bailey driving in a run on a single, and another run scoring on a double play. Reid Gorecki tied the game with a two-run single in the bottom of the ninth inning. The Ducks took the lead in the eleventh, scoring a run on an error. Sugar Land came back with two in the bottom of the frame, Gorecki smacking another tying single, and Kevin Rios hitting a sacrifice fly to center to win it.
Neither starter factored in the decision. Way allowed two runs on four hits in six innings. Carrillo let up four runs on six hits in six innings. Gary Majewski (5-2) picked up the win, allowing one unearned run on two hits in two innings. Daniel Herrera (1-1) took the loss, letting up two runs on three hits in two-thirds of an inning.
Nelson, Bailey, and Ryan Strieby led the Ducks with two hits apiece.
The Ducks continue their six-game series against the Sugar Land Skeeters Sunday night. Game time is slated for 8:05 p.m. EDT from Constellation Field. Long Island returns home on Thursday, August 15 when they battle the York Revolution in the opener of a four-game series.
