Long Island opened the scoring in the first inning for a second consecutive night on a sacrifice fly to left off the bat of Lew Ford. Southern Maryland answered with a pair of runs in the second on a RBI double by Kuan Jen-Chen off of Ducks starter Jack Snodgrass and a run-scoring throwing error. However, back-to-back RBI singles by Cody Puckett and Mike Dowd in the bottom of the frame off Blue Crabs starter Scott Snodgress put the Flock back in front 3-2.

The Ducks extended the lead to 5-2 in the fourth on a run-scoring wild pitch and a RBI groundout by Fehlandt Lentini. A five-run fifth for the Flock followed and broke the game open. A RBI single by Dan Lyons and a bases clearing, three-run triple by Lentini highlighted the inning.

Snodgrass (1-1) earned the win, pitching six innings of two-run ball (one earned), yielding just five hits and three walks while striking out nine. Snodgress (0-1) took the loss, giving up five runs on five hits and four walks with two strikeouts in three and two-thirds innings.

Blake Tekotte led the Flock with two hits and three runs, while Lentini totaled four RBI.
