(Central Islip, N.Y., Aug. 4, 2016) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Somerset Patriots 3-1 on Thursday morning in the finale of a three-game series at TD Bank Ballpark.
GAME AUDIO: Delta Cleary Jr.’s RBI double in the third inning
The Patriots struck for three runs in the opening inning against Ducks starter Dustin Richardson. David Vidal’s two-run double and an RBI single by Brian Van Kirk did the damage. Long Island closed to within two in the third on Delta Cleary Jr.’s RBI double to right-center off Patriots starter Rudy Owens. However, that was as close as they would come.
Bryce Morrow (3-2) earned the win with one and one-third scoreless innings of relief, yielding one hit while striking out two. Richardson (1-3) took the loss, giving up three runs on 10 hits and two walks with four strikeouts in five innings. Owens did not factor into the decision, lasting just two and two-thirds innings, giving up one run on one hit and five walks with two strikeouts.
Anthony Vega led the Flock offensively with two hits.
The Ducks continue their road trip on Friday night when they open a three-game series against the cross-sound rival Bridgeport Bluefish. First pitch is scheduled for 7:12 p.m. from The Ballpark at Harbor Yard. Fans can follow all the action live on the Ducks’ flagship radio station, 103.9-FM LI News Radio.
