(Bridgewater, N.J., June 13, 2017) – The Long Island Ducks fell to the Somerset Patriots 7-2 Tuesday night at TD Bank Ballpark in the opener of a three-game series.

GAME VIDEO: Angelo Songco goes deep twice in Tuesday’s game

The Ducks (26-25) got on the board first in the top of the second, taking a 1-0 lead on an Angelo Songco solo home run off Patriots starter Rick Teasley.

Long Island’s advantage was erased in the bottom of the second, when Tyler Bortnick connected for a two-run single off Rafael Perez to put Somerset (31-20) ahead 2-1. The Patriots would tack on an unearned run in the bottom of the third, and erupted for four runs in the fourth inning to take a 7-1 lead, ignited by five hits and a catcher’s interference call.

Perez (4-2) lasted 3.2 innings, allowing seven runs (five earned) on nine hits, striking out two and not issuing a walk. He gave way to Henry Hirsch, who threw 2.1 innings of scoreless relief, allowing just one hit.

With two outs in the top of the seventh, Songco launched a mammoth home run over the wall in right field for his second round-tripper of the game. The Ducks outfielder now has two multi-homer games this season and leads the club with 13 long balls. Teasley (5-1) allowed two home runs in his seven innings of work, striking out two and not walking a batter.

Tyler Levine allowed one hit in two innings and kept the Patriots off the scoreboard, but the Ducks were unable to muster a comeback against the Patriots bullpen.
