(Central Islip, N.Y., April 28, 2024) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Lancaster Stormers 13-4 on Sunday afternoon in the final game of a four-game series at Fairfield Properties Ballpark.

Lancaster plated three runs in the opening inning against Ducks starter Charlie Neuweiler on a run-scoring wild pitch, an RBI single by Niko Hulsizer and an RBI double by Chris Proctor. A two-run home run to right field by Kyle Hess in the second extended Lancaster’s lead to five.

A three-run third inning, highlighted by Nick Lucky’s RBI single and a pair of run-scoring outs, made it 8-0 Stormers. Tyler Dearden got the Ducks on the scoreboard with a two-run home run to right-center in the fourth off Stormers starter Nile Ball.

After a sac fly from Cristian Santana in the fifth, Rixon Wingrove drove home his first run with the Ducks with an RBI single to left in the sixth. Proctor’s solo homer to left and Santana’s three-run homer to center in the ninth rounded out the scoring for Lancaster, while Kevin Higgins scored on a wild pitch for the final run of the game.

Ball (1-0) picked up the win, tossing five innings of two-run ball, allowing four hits and three walks while striking out five. Neuweiler (0-1) suffered the loss, surrendering five runs on six hits and two walks in two innings with three strikeouts.

Aaron Antonini led the Ducks offensively with three hits and two runs. Dearden added two hits, two RBIs and a run.

The Ducks continue their homestand when they begin the 2024 Battle of the Belt against the Staten Island FerryHawks. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m., with the Fairfield Properties Ballpark gates opening at 5:35 (5:20 for full season ticket holders). As fans exit the ballpark following the game, Ducks staff members will be handing out coupons for a special offer from Francesco’s Trattoria East Islip. It’s also a Triple Play Tuesday, and if the Ducks turn a triple play during the game, one lucky fan will be a grand prize winner of $25,000.
