Long Island draws season-high eight walks
(Sugar Land, Texas, Aug. 13, 2013) – The Long Island Ducks fell to the Sugar Land Skeeters 8-5 on Tuesday night in the fifth game of a six-game series at Constellation Field.

Long Island scored first with a P.J. Phillips RBI groundout and a Kraig Binick RBI double to left in the second inning off Skeeters starter Clint Everts. Sugar Land evened the score in the bottom of the frame, with Ryan Langerhans driving in a run with a triple, and Koby Clemens following with a RBI single off Ducks starter James Houser.
The Ducks went back in front with two in the third. Ralph Henriquez hit a RBI single to right field, and another run scored on a groundout. Aaron Bates hit a sacrifice fly to center field in the third, and Russ Mitchell hit a solo home run to left to tie the game in the fourth. Ray Navarrete put the Ducks back on top in the fifth with a RBI double. Bates knocked a solo homer, and Koby Clemens hit a two-run home run in the sixth to put the Skeeters in front. Sugar Land added an insurance run in the eighth inning.
Everts did not factor in the decision, allowing five runs on six hits in five innings. Reliever Travis Schlichting (1-1) picked up the win, with a scoreless sixth inning. Houser (7-2) took the loss, letting up seven runs (six earned) on eight hits with six strikeouts in six innings. Gary Majewski notched his 14th save with a scoreless ninth inning.
The Ducks wrap up their six-game series against the Sugar Land Skeeters Wednesday night. Game time is slated for 8:05 p.m. EDT from Constellation Field. Long Island returns home on Thursday, August 15 when they battle the York Revolution in the opener of a four-game series.
