Skeeters pitching dominant again

(Sugar Land, Texas, Aug. 14, 2013) – The Long Island Ducks fell to the Sugar Land Skeeters 10-2 on Wednesday night in the finale of a six-game series at Constellation Field.

The Skeeters opened the scoring with a Josh Pressley two-run double in the first inning off Ducks starter Bob Zimmeramann. Long Island answered with a Bryant Nelson two-run single in the third inning off Sugar Land starter Greg Aquino. The Skeeters retook the lead with five runs in the bottom of the third, keyed by a Ryan Langerhans three-run homer to right field.

Sugar Land added two more runs on sacrifice flies by Koby Clemens and Jeff Dominguez in the fifth inning, and another sacrifice fly in the eighth to wrap up the scoring.

Aquino (7-2) notched the win, allowing two runs on five hits in six innings. Zimmermann (2-3) took the loss, letting up ten hits and nine runs (eight earned) in five innings.

Nelson led the Ducks with two runs batted in.

The Ducks return home on Thursday to take on the York Revolution. Game time is slated for 7:05 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 6:05. Right-hander Nick DeBarr gets the call for the Ducks while righty Beau Vaughn starts for the Revolution.
