Four lucky contestants win school visit from QuackerJack

(Central Islip, N.Y., Dec. 10, 2014) – The Long Island Ducks and TD Bank today announced the four winners of TD Bank’s annual “Take a Duck to Class” essay contest. A record number of essays were submitted for this year’s contest, and both the Ducks and TD Bank would like to thank everyone who entered. This year was undoubtedly the toughest to choose just four lucky winners from all of the contestants.

The following are this year’s TD Bank “Take a Duck to Class” essay contest winners:

Joseph Esposito – Second Grade – John Quincy Adams Elementary School (Deer Park, N.Y.)
Nicholas Illare – Sixth Grade – East Islip Middle School (East Islip, N.Y.)
Nicole Pottgen – Fifth Grade – Canaan Elementary School (Patchogue, N.Y.)
Amy Whitman – Fourth Grade – Edna Louise Spear Elementary School (Port Jefferson, N.Y.)

Contestants were able to pick up entry forms at Bethpage Ballpark, the home of the Ducks, or download them online at www.liducks.com. Then, they wrote an essay in 250 words or less on the topic “Who is a hero in your community and why.” The four lucky winners will have QuackerJack visit them at their school for an hour and receive a Visa Gift Card, courtesy of TD Bank. Visiting dates are currently being selected for the lucky winners and will be announced soon.

The Long Island Ducks are members of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and play their home games at Bethpage Ballpark. For further information, call (631) 940-DUCK or visit www.liducks.com.
