Ducks Street Team visits Forest Brook Elementary

(Smithtown, N.Y., Jan. 15, 2013) – On Tuesday, the Long Island Ducks Street Team, powered by National Grid, continued their TD Bank “Take a Duck to Class” appearances by spending the morning with Austin Faber and his classmates at Forest Brook Elementary School. Austin was the second of four winners in the annual essay contest, and as part of his prize, he received an assembly for his entire grade with QuackerJack and 2012 Atlantic League champion Ray Navarrete.

The assembly opened with Austin reading his winning essay to the entire class, which was met with a loud applause. Next, TD Bank representatives Eric Fishon and Kevin Mileti presented Austin with a Visa gift card for being one of the winners and writing a terrific essay. Long Island’s favorite mascot, QuackerJack, then came out to say hello before Ray spoke to the children about the importance of community and education in his life. He also reminded them to always eat their vegetables, listen to their parents and reach for their dreams.

Following the assembly, QuackerJack and Ray joined Austin and the rest of his class for a private autograph session. Many students posed for pictures with the two, and each was given a gift bag full of goodies, courtesy of TD Bank. Austin was even interviewed by Newsday and FiOS 1 News about writing a winning essay.
