(Bridgewater, N.J., April 22, 2016) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Somerset Patriots 5-2 on Friday night in the second game of a four-game series.

GAME AUDIO: Highlights from Friday’s contest

Sean Burroughs got the scoring started for Long Island with a RBI infield single in the first inning off of Patriots starter Jeremy Horst. It stayed that way until the bottom of the fifth when a run-scoring groundout off the bat of Bryan LaHair tied the game at one.

The Patriots then struck for four two-out runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 5-1 lead. Scott Kelly’s RBI single and Trayvon Robinson’s three-run home run did the damage. Lew Ford drove in Delta Cleary Jr. with a sacrifice fly in the eighth, but the Ducks would get no closer.

Neither starter factored into the decision. Ducks starter Darin Downs tossed five innings, allowing just one run on four hits and two walks while striking out six, and Horst pitched five innings, giving up a run on six hits and one walk with five strikeouts. Gus Schlosser (1-0) collected the win with two scoreless innings of relief, and Nick Struck (0-1) suffered the loss, surrendering four runs on three hits and a walk with two strikeouts in one inning. Jon Hunton picked up his first save of the year with a scoreless ninth.

Fehlandt Lentini led the Flock with three more hits, while Mike Blanke added two.
