(Central Islip, N.Y., Aug. 26, 2026) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the Hagerstown Flying Boxcars 18-3 on Wednesday night in the second game of a six-game series at Fairfield Properties Ballpark.
Hagerstown took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a sacrifice fly to center field by Joe Campagna and an RBI single to center by Robert Brooks. A solo homer to center by Cristhian Rodriguez in the second off Ducks starter Rio Gomez extended the visitors’ lead to three.
Long Island closed to within 3-2 in the fourth on a two-out, two-run double to center field by Alsander Womack off Flying Boxcars starter Greg Duncan. A five-run rally with two outs in the bottom of the fifth then gave the Ducks a 7-3 lead. An RBI double to right by Gavin Collins, a two-run double to right by Henry Kusiak and a two-run homer down the right field line by Aaron Antonini did the damage.
Six more runs came home for the Flock in the sixth to make it a 13-3 ballgame, highlighted by Wilmer Difo’s solo homer to left, RBI singles by Kusiak and Antonini and a three-run double down the left field line by Chris Roller. Antonini lined a three-run homer to left in the seventh to push the lead to 13, and two more runs scored in the eighth on Difo’s RBI single to left and Collins’ sac fly to right to round out the scoring.
Gomez did not factor into the decision but threw three innings of three-run ball, allowing six hits and a walk with three strikeouts. Leonardo Taveras (3-0) collected the win with two scoreless innings of relief, walking one while striking out three. Duncan (1-2) took the loss, surrendering seven runs on eight hits and a walk in four and two-thirds innings with eight strikeouts.
Antonini led the Ducks offense with four hits, six RBIs and four runs scored. Kusiak added three hits, three RBIs and two runs, while Difo chipped in with three hits, two RBIs, two runs, a walk and two stolen bases.
The Ducks and Flying Boxcars continue their six-game set on Thursday night. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m., with the Fairfield Properties Ballpark gates opening at 5:35 (5:20 for full season ticket holders). It will be a Bluebird Hardwater Thirsty Thursday at the ballpark. Right-hander Tanner Jacobson (6-5, 4.61) toes the rubber for the Ducks against Flying Boxcars righty Chase Chaney (1-3, 5.88).
