The Long Island Ducks are in the midst of a push to qualify for the 2022 Atlantic League playoffs. Already qualified for the playoffs are the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (first half North Division champion) and Gastonia Honey Hunters (first half South Division champion). The Lancaster Barnstormers currently lead the North Division in the second half, while the Honey Hunters lead the South Division in the second half. Should that remain the case, a one-team Wild Card scenario would come into play.

The ALPB postseason features the first and second half champions of the North and South Divisions. However, if one team repeats as division champion in both halves, then a Wild Card team gains entry to the postseason. If both teams repeat as division champion in both halves, then two Wild Cards teams qualify for the postseason. The Wild Card team(s) is the ALPB club(s) not already in the playoffs that has posted the best full-season record.
