Ducks advance to Elite 8 of tournament
The Long Island Ducks have been chosen by Newsday as one of 64 iconic attractions, activities, foods and celebrities to compete in their “That’s SO Long Island” contest. Fans can now vote in the bracket-style competition to determine which is the one that best defines Long Island.
In the first round of voting, the Ducks garnered 6,353 votes to beat Canoeing and Kayaking by over 4,000 votes and advance to the second round. In the second round, the Ducks used a late surge to pick up a total of 4,691 votes and defeat U-Picking by over 400 votes to advance to the Sweet 16. In the Final Four of the Activities bracket, the Ducks defeated Long Island Wine Country by 3,016 votes to 2,551. Now, the Ducks need your help to move on to the Final Four as they take on Jones Beach Concerts.
Fans can cast their votes in the “That’s SO Long Island” contest by CLICKING HERE. Voting for round four will last until Sunday, July 13 at 5:00 p.m, and votes can be made once per matchup every 24 hours. There will be six rounds of voting in total, with the winner being announced in the afternoon on Monday, July 21.
There is also a chance for fans to win a grand prize by submitting their predictions for the entire bracket. Those who pick all four finalists in Newsday’s “That’s SO Long Island” contest will be entered for a chance to win a $500 American Express gift card.
