Balloting open from now through December 15

(Central Islip, N.Y., Oct. 6, 2016) – The Long Island Ducks have made the ballot once again in several categories for this year’s Long Island Press “Best of Long Island” awards, presented by Bethpage Federal Credit Union. Fans may CLICK HERE to visit the “Best of Long Island” page and cast their vote for Long Island’s hometown team today.

Long Island’s favorite mascot, QuackerJack, is seeking to win his seventh consecutive Best Long Island Mascot award. The lovable ‘QJ’ continues to make new friends across Long Island every day, whether helping fans root on the team at Bethpage Ballpark or visiting groups throughout the community. QuackerJack was also selected as the Atlantic League’s Mascot of the Year following the 2015 season.

For a ninth consecutive year, the Ducks have been given their own category: Best Long Island Duck. Which member of the 2016 Liberty Division champions do you feel deserves the honor? Should Fehlandt Lentini take home the honor after leading the Atlantic League in hits (179), runs (108), doubles (42), at bats (571) and games played (140)? How about John Brownell, who surpassed Randy Leek for the all-time franchise records in wins, innings pitched and games started this season? Or does Mike Dowd deserve the award after being voted by fans as the Delmonte-Smelson Team MVP? There are 15 nominees from which to choose, so be sure to pick the one you feel is most deserving!

The Ducks also were nominated in two categories for the very first time this year. @LIDucks, the team’s official Twitter handle, has made the ballot for Best Twitter Account from Long Island. Thousands of fans interact with the team daily on Twitter, and it has become a go-to source of team news, game status updates, promotions and so much more. In addition, “Quack of the Bat,” the official blog of the Ducks, has been nominated for Best Blog from Long Island. Readers of “Quack of the Bat” are treated to in-depth game previews and live blog updates on a daily basis during the season along with enhanced features on players and news from the team year-round.

Buddy Harrelson has been nominated once again in the Best Long Island Personality category. Fans seek out the baseball legend during every Ducks game to share their favorite stories and get an autograph, and Buddy can always be found visiting hospitals and other organizations throughout the Long Island community. Finally, the Ducks and Bethpage Ballpark can be found on the ballot for Best Soft Pretzel. The ballpark staple, made to perfection by J & J Snacks, remains a must for any fan enjoying a baseball game on Long Island.

Voting is now underway and lasts through Thursday, December 15. Fans are encouraged to cast their ballots early and often to support the Flock. In addition, the team is asking fans to help spread the word and show their support on social media by using the hashtag #VoteDucks.
