Scott Grimes put York on top in the first with a RBI double to right-center field off Ducks starter Eric Niesen. Five more runs in the third, highlighted by a pair of two-run doubles from Ramon Castro and Chris Nowak stretched the lead to five.

Castro’s solo homer in the fifth, four runs in the sixth and single runs in the eighth and ninth accounted for the rest of York’s scoring. Shawn Williams had a RBI single in the ninth off Revs starter Corey Thurman, but it wasn’t enough.

Thurman (4-1) got the win, as he threw a complete game, allowing just one run on eight hits while striking out three. Niesen (0-1) suffered the loss, yielding six runs on seven hits in two and one-third innings.

Williams led the Ducks with three hits on the afternoon.

Following a day off Monday, the Ferry Cup Series returns to Bethpage Ballpark on Tuesday night, as the Ducks open a three-game set against the cross-sound rival Bridgeport Bluefish.
